Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to paint an apartment in NYC? +
Every project is different, so we provide custom estimates based on the actual scope of work. Pricing depends on room sizes, ceiling heights, condition of walls (how much prep is needed), the type and brand of paint, and any special requirements like lead-safe protocols. We're transparent about pricing and provide detailed written estimates so you know exactly what you're paying for. The best way to get an accurate number is to request a free estimate — Steve will assess your space and provide a fair, competitive quote.
How long does a typical painting job take? +
A standard one-bedroom apartment usually takes 2–3 days. A three-bedroom apartment with ceilings typically runs 4–5 days. Larger projects like townhouses, commercial spaces, or extensive prep work may take longer. We'll give you a specific timeline with your estimate, and we stick to it. If anything changes, you'll hear from Steve directly — we don't leave you guessing.
Do you have the insurance certificates my co-op requires? +
Yes. We carry general liability insurance through Hiscox and workers' compensation insurance. We routinely provide certificates of insurance naming your building, management company, and co-op board as additional insured. We also hold EPA Lead-Safe certification and are familiar with REBNY protocols and building-specific requirements throughout NYC. This documentation is ready to go — we can have it to your management company the same day you book.
What paint brands do you use? +
We work with premium brands including Benjamin Moore, Farrow & Ball, Fine Paints of Europe, Sherwin-Williams, C2 Paint, and specialty wood coating brands like Renner and Milesi for cabinet work. We're happy to use your preferred brand, or we can recommend the best product for your specific project based on the surface type, desired finish, and budget.
Do I need to move furniture before you arrive? +
We handle furniture moving as part of every job. We carefully shift furniture to the center of the room or to adjacent rooms as needed, and protect everything with drop cloths. Floors, fixtures, and hardware are all covered and taped. When we're done, we put everything back. The only thing different about your space when we leave is the beautiful new paint.
My building was built before 1978. Can you handle lead paint? +
Yes. We are EPA Lead-Safe Certified, which is required for any work disturbing paint in pre-1978 buildings. This applies to the majority of buildings in NYC. We follow all required containment and safety protocols, and can also perform lead paint inspections and provide documentation for real estate transactions.
What areas do you serve? +
We serve the entire NYC metro area: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island, plus Westchester, Orange, Putnam and Ulster Counties (NY), Nassau and Suffolk Counties (Long Island), Hudson and Essex Counties (NJ), and Fairfield County, Connecticut (Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, and surrounding areas).
Do you offer free estimates? +
Yes, all estimates are 100% free with no strings attached. Our estimates are good for 45 days. Steve personally handles every estimate. You can request one by filling out the form on this page, calling us at (917) 555-0142, or emailing [email protected]. We respond within 24 hours.
