I put myself through college painting houses. When I was done with school, I kept coming back to the work I loved. There's something deeply satisfying about transforming a space — watching a tired, dinged-up apartment become something a tenant is genuinely proud to live in, or seeing a commercial space come together right on deadline.
I started Be Colouring because I was tired of seeing sloppy work passed off as professional painting. Cut corners. Drips on the trim. Paint on the floors. Crews that show up late or don't show up at all. I knew I could do it better, and that's what I set out to build.
If I can't look at the final product and say "that's a job I can be proud of," then I haven't finished.
Today, Be Colouring works with property owners, buyers, sellers, real estate agents, landlords, and property managers across the NYC metro area. From quick high-rise white-boxing to elaborate detail work at brownstones, penthouses, offices, and retail locations — every project gets the same meticulous attention. We've been at it since 2019, growing through referrals and repeat clients.
All of our painters are screened and trained in the Be Colouring way of painting. The members of our crews form a tight-knit group who work with each other on a regular basis, with a designated project manager leading each crew as your on-site liaison. We hire nice, friendly people who know that part of their job is interacting with our clients and making them comfortable. We can always train skills — we can't teach kindness.
We carry all the documentation you need — especially if you're in a NYC co-op or condo with strict building requirements. That includes general liability insurance through Hiscox, workers' compensation coverage, EPA Lead-Safe certification (critical for pre-1978 buildings, which is most of NYC), BBB A+ accreditation, and PCA (Painting Contractors Association) membership.
We follow strict building protocols as set by The Real Estate Board of New York, the Department of State, and each building's specific criteria.
We spend as much time prepping as painting. Proper surface prep is the difference between a paint job that lasts 2 years and one that lasts 10.
